Lytro light field cameras now on sale Unlike a conventional cameras that captures a single plane of light, the Lytro camera captures the entire light field, which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space. This could allow some very cool features. As a user in their blog wrote: “Being able to apply an image effect according to light vectors is insanely cool. Imagine brightening parts of the image that are between 3 and 5 meters from the camera… Or to remove the background with one click… Even with normal 2-D editing, it’d be great to be able to use the vector information to select regions.” Lytro camera
